Currently I have one (1) stick of 256 DDR PC-2100 ram. My other stick is faulty and I'm forced to get more ram. I'm currently looking at the crucial 256 DDR PC-2100 at newegg.com for 47 bucks.

I have an insanely low and tight budget, $100 to me is like $900 for some you guys. My mobo only supports up to PC2100 ram, so I don't see the point in getting PC3200 type rams, except for it's usefulness in future upgradings.

Would the crucial run well with the generic? They're the same speed. My mobo doesn't have dual channel support. Any other suggestions?

Crucial RAM would work fine with generic, Crucial has excellent compatibility. Since PC-3200 is only $3 more for a stick if you can afford it, I'd recommend it since like you said if you upgrade in the future the RAM will have a longer life span.
