I am aware of the possible damage that occurs to 3.5" hard drives during shipment.. but do the same problems plague 2.5" drives? Is it still a problem, but to a higher/lower extent? Does ZZF ship their 2.5" drives in a container similar to those they use for 3.5" drives?

Any information will be greatly appreciated :D.

While 3.5 desktop drives can be damaged in shipping because of excess shock, it is almost impossible for this to happen to a modern 2.5" laptop drive. Shock resistance is a big selling point for notebook drives, and most notebook hard drives have a shock resistance in excess of 700G - 2ms, double the resistance of any desktop drive. Some are in the 1,000G - 2ms neighborhood, and many laptop drives have operating shock resistances greater than desktop drives' non-op resistance. (~225-350G - 2ms)

Don't just ship the thing in an envelope, but a laptop drive doesn't need to be in a fortress either.
