Windows XP SP2 - How is it now? I've heard that it was a nightmare for a LOT of people, with a tonne of problems cropping up left, right and center.

As with every new OS or SP, I've waited a tad to use it...so how is it goign now?

Pretty well from what I've heard, though I have yet to install it myself. A lot of difficulties seem to be ironed out...The only people still really abstaining are those with programs that absolutely will not work with SP2. The security still has plenty of issues, but is an improvement, so it's not a bad idea to try out SP2. I'm waiting myself for when I reinstall XP, and make sure nothing I use will be affected, since I have an amount of older programs.

Run ad-aware and Search and Destroy and do bios updates on any Dells before install, and everything will probably be just fine.

Yea. I've put SP2 on 4 computers (including my Toshiba Laptop). I have yet to have a single problem with it and for the average user it is more than worth having on the system (especially if the said user uses IE).

As always, backup your important data, download the update and make sure you have your not doing anything while it patches. When it sais to reboot, do it and you should be fine.

I've been recommending people get SP2 since it came out. Some say they have problems but honestly... it has to be some kind of virual/spyware infection or... drivers could be incompatible so maybe update all the drivers for your hardware you can to the latest versions etc. and I can't see you having a problem.

You should be fine with SP1 but if you want to install SP2, you should be fine.

Dells now come with SP2 already installed so you don't have to worry about it. :)

Some of the older Dell desktops and latoptops will die if you don't do a bios update before install.

I've had nothing but success with it. I like it so much I even slipstreamed it into my XP CD's.
