This is great news, but the true death knell for Flash will be when porn sites convert to HTML5.

Over the last few years, we’ve rolled out tools to encourage advertisers to use HTML5, so you can reach the widest possible audience across screens. To enhance the browsing experience for more people on more devices, the Google Display Network and DoubleClick Digital Marketing are now going 100% HTML5.

Not only this, there's a lot of online video content sites, Comedy Central, FX, ESPN, etc. that still use flash. We're still looking at about 5 more years where I think Flash will still be pretty important for a lot of folks.

The JS-based ads are the worst. It's like, how do you even write JS that pegs a CPU 100% yet does nothing more than display an image?

On older Firefox browsers there are some websites where the entire browser is just hosed frozen because of some idiotic JS-based ad network.

The JS ads can also be the most abusive, often hiding auto-forwards and forced clicks within their code.

Wonder what Google's schedule is for replacing flash in their News/Finance stock charting tool?

I already banned all Adobe Flash Ads, I disabled the Adobe Flash plugin in Chrome over a year ago.

hooray! perhaps I'll actually see your ads then. I use flash block plus. I despise flash, ever since I had seven systems infected with XP Antivirus at my office through a flash vulnerability. I started blocking flash then, and I will continue.

I don't think we have any flash ads running now, so if you are not seeing those, you are running more than Flash block...

now have ad blocker because the tv show sites i learned are outsourcing shows to Canada and sense they are screwing over there brothers and sisters then i see no point in not screwing them over to. feels bad for the rest but it might be time to find a new way to survive on the web
