That’s one billion terabytes. Or one trillion gigabytes. Or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000000 bytes.

Global internet traffic will pass one zettabyte for the first time this year, after increasing fivefold in the last five years. Cisco, the networking company that supplies much of the world’s internet infrastructure, says that the total amount of traffic will reach around 1,060 exabytes, or just over one zettabyte.

So what?

It's not like we'll run out of internet, if we use it too much. This is like saying the combined screen size of LCD monitors will surpass hundred zillion pixels worldwide this year.

I tend to agree, this is a so what. That number will probably be exceeded 10 fold in the next 10 years.

:D

Meanwhile the "Service" Providers will be clamoring ala "MPAA" style that they were cheated out of overage fees because of the amount of traffic.
