How much do you want to bet that this story is made into a movie by Hollywood. At the very least it will be a movie of the week that was "inspired by true events." :D

Federal officials today announced arrests and charges in a stolen identity tax-refund scheme believed to involve more than $1 million in false claims and run by an IRS employee who was supposed to be assisting taxpayers experiencing problems resulting from identity theft. I could see this being made into a Law and Order SVU type episode where the perpetrator is sexual predator...

Why is he getting arrested? I don't get it. He's CLEARLY just researching to do his job better!

For once the IRS actually goes after one if it's own.

He should have shared his score with them.

Rookie mistake.

There you have it. The IRS is unable to protect you from outside threats or inside threats. It's still generally satisfactory when it comes to closing doors on empty barns, though. And, Nakeisha Hall -- tasked with preventing ID theft but instead engaging in it -- transfers to the US Dept. of Irony, joining such luminaries as Air Force chief of Sexual Assault Prevention (arrested for sexual assault) and the Obama administration (whose open government workshop was closed to the public).

"US Dept. of Irony"

LOL

:D

Wait a minute, his identity was probably stolen by someone while he was investigating an identity thief, who then framed him. Kinda like identity theft within an identity theft. I hear if you go deep enough in identity theft you can lose yourself permanently into a limbo.

Sounds like movie material, right?

I was visiting India, when the Minister of Anti-Corruption, was being charged for corruption...

I recently interviewed for a job with a private company to assist the IRS in helping prevent identity fraud in terms of IRS refunds. Didn't get the job.

Oh the horror of it. How would one ever get to sleep knowing that some country they don't live in wants money from them and can't do a damn thing to collect

Deathroned, I don't want to sound too harsh here, please understand tho. Just because many of the Americans on this website might sound very critical of issues in our country and of our government, most of us do realize that although we aren't perfect, America is still better then most, more tolerant then most. You can't live in a country with over 320 million people and not have some kind of asshole as a neighbor, or some group of ignorant fucks starting trouble. We have everything, even our own jihadists and we don't even have to import them, we grow them ourselves right here in our melting pot :D

Nobody likes taxes and nobody is all that fond of their country's tax collection agency. It's sort of a given. But if America says your a citizen and that you owe taxes, you should remember that the taxes your paying to buy something even if you can't use it right now. If you're paying taxes then you're earning Social Security credits and you'll be able to collect some day, even if you never set foot in the country.

Oh, and BTW, if your income qualifies as foreign earned income, approximately the first $90,000 is not taxable :D
