Acer G276HL 27'' $149.99

IPS 1080P 27" monitors have been on sale for less these past couple of days. This isn't even IPS.

1080P is the buzzword, just like HD was a few years back...

Plus every year I find myself leaning closer and closer to the monitor I have to read text :D

You're correct and yes there had been other sales.
But as far as I know all the sale did not include Acer or Ben-Q which are two brands that I would go for when I'm looking around for this type of LCD.

Indeed, IPS would have a better viewing angle (mostly vertical) and few minor color improvement that I, personally don't care much for.
Just real estates wise, it has the best bang for a buck.
That's the only reason I put it up there.
I guess for some people, it's not a good deal....
 
It's a good VA panel. Viewing angels are good. I can't see any color shift. I've had mine for almost two years now.
 
If it was a TN it would be terrible. For a solid VA, it's basically your preference -- do you want better blacks (VA) or to avoid gamma shift (IPS)?
