Qualcomm has officially denied this, but I think they said the same thing about the 810.

It is identical to the issues the Korean company had with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processors last year. In that case Samsung decided not to use the SD810 in any of its high-end Android phones for 2015. Apparently walking away is not an option with the Galaxy S7, which we’re expecting to see hit the market towards the beginning of next year.

So they are having issues with the formfactor... Perhaps we have found a barrier to design...

Pretty much this. The only thing that could really do is use heatpipes or a vapor chamber and have them tied directly to an aluminum case.

The only other real option is to tweak the design to use less power and put out less heat.

They have to scale some shit back a little. I think cellphone manufacturers are doing too much too fast. Cellphones have gone from being 100mHz and 320x240 to 2.5GHz octa-cores with multiple gigabytes of RAM and 1080p and 1440p screens in just a few years. This took PC's and laptops how long?

All of a sudden we're having cellphones that are overheating? Come on now...

This is something Apple gets right (to a degree). Lower but still sharp resolution screens and beefy GPU's to really push graphics and performance. Dual core 1.6GHz CPU isn't it? Just as fast as everything else?

Yeah...and 4K screens are right around the corner in cellphones too. Where are the 8K tablets already??? :p

It's just gotten a little crazy is all. Something like the Note 3 is still awesome with the Note 4 being better. Improve on these things instead of just jacking everything up each time.
