There is a review of the MSI Radeon R9 390X Gaming 8G posted at ocaholic today. For comparison purposes, you can see our evaluation here.

The MSI Radeon R9 390X Gaming 8G is an extremely powerful R9 390X custom graphics card. The cooler on this particular card is maybe the most capable model available these days. Apparently, this combination sounds rather compelling, so we're interested to see what it can do in our review.

Steve.. I enjoyed the review and I wanted to update people that it's not only the R 390/390X that got the new (no throttle ) hardware under the hood but some later built.. 290X 's also have it,,

This is Sapphire's Tri X 290X New Edition that cost me $269 brand new with 1020/1350 clocks .. I bumped the gpu up 30Mhz to match some of the 390/390x cards running 1050 clocks but kept the ram at 1350..

3D Mark Fire Strike GPU score 12573

Man, I just bought this card. It seems alright but it is so ungodly loud. Its all I can hear over my headphones, but looking at AB it only hits like 40% fan speed and 70C or so. Just noisy as shit. Never buying an MSI Twin Frozr card again, thats for sure.

I had a MSI Twin Frozr (GTX 570), and it was pretty loud too. I upgraded to a Sapphire Tri X 290X in the summer for $260. It's a bit less noisy with 3 fans spinning at lower RPM. I OC it to 1100 / 1400.
I wanted 390/390X with 8GB vram, but decided to save the money for a more rapid upgrade next year.

Sounds like you bought the same 290x I did.. It is very quiet and 100%stable also cool running ..
