Expert witnesses? You don't need no stinking expert witnesses!

Kim Dotcom and his Megaupload co-defendants don't need to hire expert witnesses in the United States, the U.S. government argued today. Refuting claims that around $500,000 is needed to mount a proper extradition defense, the Crown prosecutor argued that incriminating admissions could not be trumped by technical know-how.

While I think the US government is going way to deep in on this, the claims of Kim Dotcom and his lawyers are putting out makes him seem like a raving lunatic, claiming about how doing something is "unfair", and now saying you need to pay for witnesses? not how this works, you subpoena them and they have to show up to court.

thats not how expert witnesses work....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expert_witness

An expert witness, professional witness or judicial expert is a witness, who by virtue of education, training, skill, or experience, is believed to have expertise and specialised knowledge in a particular subject beyond that of the average person, sufficient that others may officially and legally rely upon the witness's specialized (scientific, technical or other) opinion about an evidence or fact issue within the scope of his expertise, referred to as the expert opinion, as an assistance to the fact-finder.[1] Expert witnesses may also deliver expert evidence about facts from the domain of their expertise.[2] At times, their testimony may be rebutted with a learned treatise, sometimes to the detriment of their reputations.

not allowing expert testimony is pretty clear the gov't has no case and is railroading him

also 500,000 is not a lot of money as a defense fund goes.... DoJ can choke on a hairy cock

Translatrion: Doesn't deserve due process. This trial is gonna be a joke, we already know the judgement, just send him to us.

Sigh, really?

If this doesn't tell you the gov't is in the pocket of corporations, I can't think of what would.

It's not a prosecutor's job in any jurisdiction to make sure the defendant gets a fair trail, just one that doesn't get overturned on appeal after a successful conviction. Likewise it's the job of the defendants attorney to use every trick and procedure to win for his or her client.

This is just how it works and always has.

Sounds less like justice than the DoJ wanting him to sit in front of a Kangaroo Court to make the **AA's happy.
