If you've stayed at the Hilton lately, you might want to read this.

Multiple sources in the banking industry say they have traced a pattern of credit card fraud that suggests hackers have compromised point-of-sale registers in gift shops and restaurants at a large number of Hilton Hotel and franchise properties across the United States. Hilton says it is investigating the claims.
 
"It remains unclear how many Hilton properties may be affected by this apparent breach. "

That is code for "All the damn outlets and every single PoS system in the chain"...judging by how every single CC fraud case at major corporations has panned out in the last 2 years.

Are any really competent at security, or are some simply better at sweeping undesirable stories under the rug?

Further, all companies everywhere value instant $$$ signs over long-term expenditure payouts like computer security.
