Avago (LSI) 9300-16i.

That's 2x SAS 3008 on one card, that card also requires good air flow for it to not over heat, FYI.

Do you have 12Gb/s drives, backplane, etc?

Do you need cache? I don't see any on that card...

The backplane is whatever comes with the Norco 4224. I'm guessing it probably isn't 12 Gb/s, but it's only somewhat more expensive than the "normal" 9201-16i.

I doubt I need any cache (or, at least, I don't think I do). The 4224 I'm building will strictly be a Windows 10-based media server, but will still be pretty beefy in terms of mb/cpu/memory. I'm currently using an aging 4220 and have been bitten with upgrade fever (I already have the Norco, cpu, most of the drives, and psu).

Oh, the airflow issue I can address with a few more well-placed chassis fans, so that shouldn't be a problem.
