I have the opportunity to buy a used WD TV Live. The seller is asking $29.99 for it and I see the same model on Amazon for $89.99.

Is this worth this much? Could I resell it for more?

I don't really need it, but I deal alot in buying and selling but I am unfamiliar with these.

Thanks!

I think it's reasonable at $30.00, as I've had one for 6 years now. I can't see paying more for a used one when you can buy better players for $90 now, like the much newer WD devices or those Android boxes.

If it's the Live, it doesn't have WiFi and was released in 2009.
In my opinion, $30 is the max that this model is worth.

Apparently, there are 2 models with the WDTV Live designation, one is 2009 and the other is 2011,
the 2011 model has built in WiFi and is called WDTV Live Streaming Media Player, value is still around the same for a used unit.

Depends on your use. Great for local content (networked on physically attached). The Streaming Apps were painfully slow to use by today's standards. As I had Plex I could satisfy local content on just about anything, The WD TV went on the shelf. If it ever gets used again it will be if I go somewhere without internet and without local Networking that I can make use of and watch content off a hard drive. Hard to think of a scenario that my Laptop couldn't do the same thing, though.

I paid 65 for a WD Live TV not too long ago. Thing about these is the newest firmware update lets them send LOSSLESS (DTS-MA & TrueHD) out. Its the ONLY streamer thats low cost that can do 1080p MKV's with lossless audio.

I know lots of guys that have bought these to replace blu-ray players and hook up a external HDD or two or three with MKV Rips and your good to go.

There's also a 2013 (or 2014?) version which is technically called WD TV Media Player, but it looks identical to the 2011 model WD TV Live. And presumably/supposedly is identical except for the firmware. Same FCC ID on both devices per one of the reviews I read of the new one.

That's the one that's currently $82 on Amazon.
