Check out Facebook Connectivity Lab's boomerang-shaped carbon fiber drone Aquila, which runs on solar power and will bring Internet connectivity to those who are beyond the reach of today's telecommunications infrastructure.

OK, I'm not a fan of Facebook at all. However, this is pretty cool.

Anything coming from facebook is a work of devil. There's a catch.

I couldn't tell, are they using solar arrays on the wings? If not, why not?

It "runs on solar power", can stay aloft for 3 months at a time, and is basically a giant wing. I suspect solar arrays are on it.

Smartypants, if it can fly for 3 months on solar, then it can fly for longer.

The catch is probably a mandatory Facebook account to go along with free Internet.
