My old ass 37" LCD tv hdmi inputs finally went poof. I have a htpc with a GT 240. I need a cheap way to convert either hdmi or vga into component video. No need for audio. I have separate speakers for that.

Issue is money. I really do not want to throw $50 at this issue. I would rather get a new tv but $$ is tight atm.

Only thing I have found cheap is this wallplate from monoprice. I think it will work?

The thing blade linked looks good. That wallplate is simply a coupler. It won't convert anything.

If your TV has VGA it will be as good as component video will.

If your TV isn't some obscure or limited production model, you can probably get a new input board for it.

Though you can check to see if it has any leaky caps before you go and replace parts because replacing caps is even cheaper than replacing PCBs.
