YES!!!

Asked about plans to block any X-rated content or apps during a panel at the first Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference in San Jose, Calif., on Monday, Luckey responded: “The rift is an open platform. We don’t control what software can run on it,” adding: “And that’s a big deal.”

Of course not, the porn industry will only help sales for the oculus.

There's very few things that really drive innovation and Porn is one of them. There's no reason to prevent it on a platform that needs innovation.

Apparently it already exists. A friend of mine has the Samsung S6 Oculus setup and "stumbled upon" some :p

The Japanese have also made plenty of those hentai groping and voyeur games, you know they jump on the newest technology for porn.

How would they block it? That's like saying "Sony has no plans on blocking porn on their TVs". The Oculus Rift is just a display device. Besides, even if they could magically do it, at least one of their competitors wouldn't which would mean that their competitors would win the market.

This is the most obvious headline I've read this week.

Sony dictated that there would be no porn on their Beta tape format.

Cue VHS becoming the dominant player...

*Starts humming "The Internet Is For Porn"*

"It's like going to a Gallagher show with out ruining your clothes." - some porn marketing guy.

I'm curious about this. First person point of view. I'd like to see what they can come up with. Definitely a unique experience. No substitute for the real thing, but pretty interesting stuff.

As if they'd block something that will likely end up helping to generate a majority of their sales. :p

I think you mean "simulator of fondle and rape on train for bubble bath octopus" simulator

Yeah, japanese into some weird shit to say the least.

Now I'm thinking what the feeling when the goat or Pan simulator simulator is used! Really crazy! :p

Not sure what the porn industry would have to do with development of VR games built on 3D engines. There's no crossover. Not sure why this misconception exists.

It's better in theory than it is in practice. VR porn really isn't anything special. Spend a couple dollars on Google Cardboard if you want an idea of what it's like.

Pretty sure the only real popular 4K content at first was porn.

And does the Google cardboard really compare to the Oculus? I hope not. Plus, we need porn specifically designed for this kind of 3D environment, not just existing porn footage worn on your head.

We need to be able to look around, see 3D, etc.

Hey, watch out where you point that, you could put somebody's eye out with that thing!

Did I just read a review on VR porn on [H] ?!

Maybe I don't lurk often enough.

I think the bigger question would be "why was this question even asked on a platform that is meant to be open"? Perhaps I'm being too cynical here but it feels like there was an agenda with asking that nonsense to begin with.

Could be either way though:
1) To put pressure on Oculus to control "immoral" usage of its devices
2) To raise awareness that there's VR porn to be had, boys!

Some people on this planet were born yesterday.

Cardboard isn't a perfect comparison but it gives you an idea of what it's like without buying the dev kit. You can look around, see in 3D, etc. It does a damn good job and gives you a vague idea of what VR has to offer.

Oculus sets are all over Craigslist and there is already 3D porn with head tracking for it so it's not like it's not out there for everyone to try.

Porn will help sell the Rift. It only makes sense that they'd endorse it. They probably enjoy answering questions like this as it makes the company look cooler and more open. There is also big competition heading our way from across the seas, with Japan stroking it hard to come out on top.
