WWAN card for GPS-only / anti-theft ?

Is there a WWAN card designed specifically to aid in anti-theft via GPS capability? I don't want to buy a WWAN card linked to cellular service that would end up raping my data plan, but I would like to be able for it to be utilized by something like LoJack Absolute / Computrace when the laptop for GPS tracking.

Is there anything like that out there specifically for this purpose? It would definitely help with stolen equipment.

They come built in some Dell systems I think they are on the boards themselves otherwise you could simply take the card out to kill the tracking. You probably want to go with a solution from Computrace I would hit up there website and see what they can offer. Be warned the costs are steep and unless your losing significant equipment it might not be cost effective.
