I've recently moved over to the MSI GS30 and thought I would share some benchmarks of what this 1.2kg notebook can do when plugged into the gaming dock with a titan X in it :D

Pic of the card in the dock :)

any reason why you picked up the MSI over the alienware? just curious

Full PCI express 16x instead of 4x and no optimus to get in the way, the desktop drivers just install and away you go at full speed.

If there was a universal hub like this for any laptop that would be fantastic. Maybe even allow for SLI/X-Fire support haha.

You can always contact our sales team to inquire about the latest offerings package wise, if MSI are offering it then so will we :)

I'm actually turning this into a project build and will be water cooling the titan :)

The chipset supports it I suppose but the dock does allow a dual chip card in it so long as the PSU is up to it (You can plug in the notebook AC adapter too to reduce the load on the PSU in the box).

If I didn't already have a Titan X rig I'd have done this for sure, this is great stuff. Feeling a bit envious though with how my Alienware doesn't quite work as well with the graphics amplifier (not that I want one now anyway!).

Well I am in the process of water cooling the titan-x in the box so it should hopefully make it even more epic :)

Well that's the dock ready for the radiator and fans :)

I've read several "expert" reviews of this that commented on the noise under load. Normal user reviews don't typically mention it though so I'm wondering if these "experts" really live with high end gaming rigs day to day. Any comment?

Also how is the real world battery life on the notebook for typical business tasks? I understand this isn't a low voltage battery champion but will I see 3 real hours of usage? Another of the "experts" was absolutely flabergasted that an i7-4870HQ system didn't get 8 hours of use...

I work out of my house and move back and forth between there and several law enforcement offices. Running 2 independent machines is becoming a pain in my ass. This could work nicely I think.

The stock dock is a little noisy but manageable if you set the rear fan to minimum using the little switch on the PCB. The CPU fan is pretty loud under load as the heatsink is not big but compared to other gaming notebooks going at it it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I see 3-4 hours browsing the web on medium brightness.

Thanks.

Optimus is now working on the internal display so no external monitor is required.

I'm liking it now in all black :) Sorry for the out of focus shot, some more angles:

Next steps are cable tidy up, adding in a modified system bios and modifying the front cover of the box and raising the feet.
