It seems the power of porn has compelled Google to change its mind on banning adult content in Blogger.

This week, we announced a change to Blogger’s porn policy. We’ve had a ton of feedback, in particular about the introduction of a retroactive change (some people have had accounts for 10+ years), but also about the negative impact on individuals who post sexually explicit content to express their identities. So rather than implement this change, we’ve decided to step up enforcement around our existing policy prohibiting commercial porn. Blog owners should continue to mark any blogs containing sexually explicit content as “adult” so that they can be placed behind an “adult content” warning page.

Figured out a bunch of folks were gonna walk I guess.

It's amazing that sex and nudity are still taboo subjects in this day and age.

You have to assume that's why.

All of the violence in the world, a video of a man being burned alive posted on a news site.

But it's tits that are just a step too far.

We're strange.

Im pretty sure Google wouldnt allow that video either.

People have a hard time making a distinction between nudity, art, sex, and pornography. I never could wrap my head around how it's perfectly OK to show people getting maimed, tortured, or killed on the news or in the name of "entertainment", but some people automatically lose their minds either with outrage or lust when they see a woman naked (half, full, or just a nipple), even when it's not meant to be sexual.

There's also the problem with people on their various social media who are just professionally outraged. It doesn't seem to matter what the event was, someone is going to get so pissed of they'll write a strongly worded post about it. And other people will be so incensed they'll click on "like".

People have a hard time making a distinction between religion, faith, and zealotry. I never could wrap my head around how it's perfectly OK to show people getting maimed, tortured, or killed on the news or in the name of "god", but some people automatically lose their minds either with outrage or lust when they see a picture of Mohamed, even when it's meant to be as a joke.

Fixed that for you...this is why Goggle needs to "backtrack". Just a slight change of words and the result is the same. Free speech is a double edge sword. When you dull the edge that faces away from you...might as well pack it in.

It's not so much that it's taboo, but rather it's personal and people like to keep it that way and some just want to share it with all of us.

I don't understand how this is even an issue. The only people who use Blogger are Internet-illiterate soccer moms, and most of the social media porn seems to come from tumblr.
