I think we can all agree that spyware blows ass but does it really violate human rights guidelines?

If you think that commercial software designed to spy on computers is problematic, you're not alone. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's UK contact has determined that Gamma International's approach to selling its FinFisher spyware violates human rights guidelines.

I think you could argue that spyware has the potential to violate human rights guidelines.

Taken to possible conclusions, what if an authoritarian regime used spyware to spy on its citizens, and then arrest them for "thought crime"?

So, if a company is willing to sell spyware to parties with the knowledge that said parties might use it to imprison or torture people it believes to be dissident, it's a part of that process.

I'm ok with classifying it as such and hanging anyone caught using it. Like the Levono CEO.
