Who knew that all you needed for your startup to be successful was a short name. Here comes the rush of new businesses with single digit names. :p

With companies, particularly in tech, there has been a tendency to form names by misspelling common words, dropping vowels, or appendly “ly” (think: Flickr, Feedly, Pinterest, and so on). While the study in Science only examined name length in terms of number of words, Stern says the principles of eliminating letters are probably the same. “Firms are looking for names that are easy to remember, that will come up in a search,” he says.

This kinda seems like a no brainer. When you brand, you want it to be "Apple" and not "Apple Computers". Your legal entity may still be " Coca-Cola Beveraging Corporation " but "Coke" is far catchier.

Not necessarily what your company is called, but how you go about branding / marketing it.

I think I'll startup a company named BS with the sole purpose of studying studies to see if they are full of BS. :p

Etoys Boo Pets Kozmo

I think those could all be great names for a successful startup.
