Hi,

Was wondering if it's possible inside win 8.1 to run Xp virtually in Hyper-V or Vmware using an old 32 bit usb device for which the manufacturer has not made 64 bit drivers or software available?

Thanks

Generally, you can "pass-through" the USB device to the guest operating system. This would be on the hardware level and allow for 32-bit drivers to work on a 32-bit guest OS in theory.

In practice however, it's sometimes difficult to "pass-through" some USB devices depending on what else is using the same USB root hub.

Thanks I tried to do it in Win XP mode but the driver did not get installed. The device was passed through though. The manual for the device was very clear that it wouldn't work without intel or via chipset. Maybe thats why it didn't work.

Thanks.
