im upgrading my old e8400 with 6gb 333mhz ddr2 ram.im trying to decide between 1155 and 1150 .i can get some real good deals on the older 1155 stuff right know but the 1150 is a lot higher.is the 1150 worth the extra money and with either one will there be a huge performance increase.also i dont plan to upgrade for a while after this.

A nice 1155 board with a 2500K/2600k would do just fine if what you plan to do is gaming...

True, but both the CPU and any leftover motherboards are physically old, so you don't really know what they have been through.

I personally would have opted for 1150, because specs on the 1150 are newer, the board and CPU themselves are physically newer (the latter is the dealbreaker for me, I NEVER buy anything that have been out of production for more than a year, ESPECIALLY online because I have no way of knowing its production date before hand).

1155 + 4790k. boom.
4790k is LGA1150. ;)

OP, if you plan on holding on to your board/chip for a while you might as well go LGA1150.

A specified budget would be helpful for picking out the right LGA1150 stuff.
