Christmas shopping is underway and time is getting short to pick out the best presents for your favorite geek. Gizmodo picked out a few of what they consider to be gifts on the level you are looking for, so browse through the list and see what tickles your fancy.

oh, klein bottle opener... i'd get one for myself, but the price is ridiculous.

Just bought the Klein bottle opener for my old man, lol (he's a math/nuc geek)

I bought a Campo de Cielo meteorite from unitednuclear.com a couple years ago (just checked...they are currently sold out). The prices in the article are ridiculous compared to what I paid. I think I paid $40 for mine but you can find smaller specimens for less. Meteorites are neat, but I don't see them being $150 worth of neat.

Also, if you ever get an iron meteorite, you can't just sit it on the shelf forever. You need to clean and oil it every 6 months - 1 year. Depending on the iron content, it will start to rust and flake away. I usually clean mine with a copper brush and then give it a couple coats of WD40, which keeps the surface from rusting for a while.
