This is one of those times where you shrug and say ‘well, better late than never’ when you talk about patching security flaws. X.org has overlooked a critical flaw that could be exploited for the past 27 years, but the good news is there are patches, fixes and workarounds in the offing. The really good news is the bad guys never found it either. :D

How critical these vulnerabilities are to any given installation depends on whether they run an X server with root privileges or reduced privileges.
