Trying to figure out if I can install a bootable usb windows 8 version that I have to assume is an upgrade version and def not 8.1 (Feb 2013), without having to install windows 7 first on a clean ssd?
So I bought a cheap $40 version of Windows 8, a lot longer ago than I thought - way back in Feb 2013.
Fast forward to today, my 4 year old Win 7 pro x64 install on a 128gb M4 Crucial SSD is borked, too many issues to bother dealing with, I have a new 512gb MX100 Crucial and figure I'd install that with Windows 8 on it.
So I pull out my bootable USB drive I stuck windows on way back then, only to read around and see that apparently my Win 8 Pro version needs to have Windows 7 installed before it will let you upgrade.
Suckity suck. I am wrong - or do I have to go dig up all the Win 7 stuff and install that on my new SSD first? And if that is the case - any reason I should just install Win 7 x64 Pro again and screw Windows 8?
