USC Researchers Track When The Web Sleeps

Well, largely, the client base of the internet sleeps every day so this is a pretty logical assumption.
 
I like steams users-online graph, i think it sort of shows this, and with a big sample size.

probably any software with a large install base that can detect when you're on can do that (skype, steam, etc)
