I use Mp3tag for metadata tagging of audio files. Is there a good (preferably free) counterpart for tagging video files?

define: "Video files"

some containers (like AVI) don't have any editable information like that. Others (like MKV) have quite a lot. Your best bet would be to load the video up in VLC to see what's there.

Extensions are MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, MPEG.I can edit the metadata of MP4 files in Mp3tag, as they're also used for audio, but that's the only one.

I use filebot (http://www.filebot.net/) and it works pretty nicely, especially when I need to rename for plex server stuff. It uses java so depending on your machine I would not dump a ton of files on it, but it does fine with a full tv show for example.
