How much luck have people had at undervolting the 8320 and keeping it at the stock speeds?

meh just take it down one notch at a time and test it. I've undervolted mine a bit, just turn up LLC so it doesn't droop. I have a profile saved that has everything undervolted and underclocked and it's nice for when I'm not doing anything that warrants power.

It is the difference between low voltage and load voltage.

Some computers have been crashing when the cpu volts back to 1.2V but suddenly it gets busy and the load is rather demanding it can shoot up to 1.4V. This can result in problems.

By disabling this or allowing the difference to be more manageable without crashing.

Google vdroop and load line calibration. Use cpu-z, then watch your voltage to see if it changes constantly or if it go's down suddenly when you are running full load. If it drops a little tiny bit and you are still stable then you are probably fine. LLC helps keep it basically stay put. Sorry if this is a bit incoherent i'm very tired :(
