Hi. I'm a new guy here and a complete noob with computers.

Please recommend a good monitor to buy for my mom. She doesn't play games but does some reading and watches online movies. Also, 26 or 27 inches the size with some decent resolution. Money isn't an issue.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Definitely an ROG Swift PG278Q. Best reading monitor ever developed, plays books like a bawss, absolutely no lag when flipping pages. Watches youtube movies with no motion blur. Best casual user monitor you'll ev--- Okay I'll stop BSing now.

You probably want a good 1920x1200 IPS panel. The 1200p helps with reading longer things and the vertical estate won't hurt movie watching while helping everything else. Unfortunately there aren't any 1920x1200 that are over 24 inches that I know of, though. To me your requirement of 26 inches+ means she has bad vision. The only thing you'll find at 27 inches that's under 1440p is 1080p monitors.
Here's what NCX linked me to in terms of best monitors currently:

After looking through it, this might be a good option.

Here's an ASUS, but it uses PWM dimming.

Both of those are VA panels which means great contrast ratios and movie watching experience.

Otherwise I'd look into 1440p, but she might need to scale the text to read on one depending on how good her vision is, and her computer if using integrated might not support a suitable output.

StoleMyOwnCar thanks again for your suggestions. After extensive reading and consulting with my mom I purchased Dell P2414H.
