Raid 0 only uses the drives performance, so the two different raids should perform about the same, Correct?

I want to use the ASMedia ports on my new MSI Z97 XPower Motherboard.

For hard drives probably the same. For SSDs no way. The ASMedia ports have a higher latency. Although SSD raid is not that beneficial on the desktop.

You'll be fine in that situation with spinners and Windows software RAID. If I'm not mistaken, you won't be able to boot off of that.

ASMedia ports on motherboards typically only have an X1 link to the chipset. Plenty of bandwidth for a pair of spinners, but will cap sequential performance on a single modern SSD.
