I'm not sure if using this app in public really keeps mosquitoes away. Unless by "mosquitoes" you mean "the ladies," then it probably works like a charm. :D

One app, called the Anti Mosquito Sonic Repeller, emits a high frequency sound, which the makers claim mosquitoes will avoid. The description says by keeping the app close, mosquitos will stay away. The makers say it is not 100% effective, but will ease the pain of the biting pests

Cool, I always wanted an app specifically designed to drain my battery and provide no other tangible benefits.
 
It eases the pain of getting bit because it is dwarfed next to the pain of bleeding from the ears....
 
Are smartphone speakers actually capable of frequencies that high?
 
I tried a couple of these when I was in Kauai 2 months ago.... All they do is suck your battery and do nothing. Still got bit to shit and back!
 
I tried one of these that was supposed to repel sharks, but it ended up brick in my phone.
