The writing is on the wall, showing just how much virtual reality will play a part in our daily lives in the near future. You can see it for yourself in virtual reality pretty soon using Chrome and Firefox browsers. Both browser teams are at work installing VR components into their respective beta editions.

“The opportunity for VR on the Web is particularly exciting,” says Vukićević. “The Web is a vibrant, connected universe where many different types of experiences can be created and shared".

/obvious porn joke

I looked up occulis rift VR support and there are already virtual adult 3D worlds in the list.

It's funny how some of the earliest adopters of consumer technology is always the adult industry.

BTW: The article is talking about WebGL support which is also going into IE 11 with latest patch.

WebGL also supports multiple view ports. For Oculus Rift support all you need to do is run full screen with two viewports of 960x1080 res for each viewport. (1920x1080 total, screen split in half)

Because 3D worked so well for home televisions.

Things are getting tapped out when people can't tell the ground floor from ground zero.

3D for television is still static 3D (You can't interact with it).

Computer 3D allows you to interact with it and I predict it will be the next big thing.

Gaming maybe (3DS FTW??? uhhh), but in a Browser which has to satisfy multiple screen sizes and viewing distances, I'll be surprised if it has any kind of variable perspective or very much animation.

That's problem has been well worked out.
