Stalker Facebook Page Extends, Then Retracts, Support For Areal Kickstarter

We posted this earlier today in our Gaming [H]eadlines post but I wanted to give you guys the chance to comment on this recent turn of events.

The official Facebook page of GSC Game World issued a statement over the weekend calling for an end to disparaging comments about Areal, the "definitive spiritual successor" to the Stalker games that's now on Kickstarter. That led the makers of the Misery mod, one of Areal's most prominent critics, to remove all such criticism from its Facebook page; yet now GSC has reversed course, saying its expression of support for Areal was not official at all.

They appear to be a legit team of former Stalker people at this point. Initially they didn't provide enough info for anyone to verify that. Which is fairly representative of how poorly the whole project has been presented on Kickstarter so far. People were right to question it.
 
Par for the course for GSC,they backed out on plans to release the Lost Alpha mod commercially after some jerk leaked an early build of it. Since they really exist in name only these days,who cares what they think. I'd be happier if they just sold the rights to STALKER to someone who would actually do something with the franchise.
