BenQ BL2710PT Backlight Bleed/IPS Glow

Omg, the horror. :(

AH-IPS I think? They seem to have it pretty bad sometimes. The Danger Den Ultra I tested looked like that. For a lot of people in office environments it makes no practical difference it's only noticeable on dark colors, but it makes me sick.

I think that looks like all glow but it can be hard to tell. I think the only sure fire way to know is by moving around--after about 2 feet back glow should disappear, and it should shift as you move your head, but bleed is just "there", as I understand it.

Here's a shot of my new Qnix matte:

I know I shouldn't call it glow free, but I want to, the exposure on this photo is long and I can't see anything on a black screen test but the little bit of "bleed" on the upper right middle edge.

Hi all, I just got the BenQ BL2710PT and checked it on a black screen. I took a picture with my phone's camera at night. I'm unsure if it's backlight bleeding or IPS glow.

Seems like I should get it exchanged or live with it.

Those photo's are awful. You need a full-frame to take decent low light images such as the Canon 5D3.

It's not glow since it's asymmetrical which means it's bleed. :(

Definitely get it replaced.

Those pictures are obviously ridiculously over-exposed and not even remotely realistic.

One needs to stand at least 5ft away to avoid capturing glow, shoot head on, and know how to take a decent picture, otherwise there is no point. Realistic examples of my BL2710PT next to a monitor with to much back-light bleed.

I was thinking of keeping it since it's only apparent when the picture is black. Seems like IPS glow. Color is very nice. Just the blacks are light in the corners. Few more pics shot from a camera from 5ft:

I'd get it replaced.

If the BenQ wasn't overpriced so much that level of bleed would be okay but when you can get Dell or Viewsonic for the same price which both have better build quality it's just unacceptable.

Just boxed up my BenQ way too much eyestrain from the thing. I just think it was the size of the monitor for the most part I'm back to my friendly 21.5 inch ASUS.
I'll use it for a console monitor because I can get more distance and spend less time on it that way.

Now know better not to get anything bigger then 21.5

Back in 2008-09
21.5 was huge
24" was considered big back then

Now we are talking 34" 4k monitors no thanks =)

Same model? If so, are the new ones better?

I just got two BL2710PTs from Amazon and the light bleed is awful.

add me to the list....

I got this monitor today and it has considerable yellow tint in the bottom left corner, I wont be keeping it

I dont know what to do...try another benq bl2710pt or try a different monitor???

Its what $450. Glow is so easy to see .you move it moves. Yet dont let others influence you. Its 100% ok to EXPECT no bleed. Some take what ever comes.
