If you have a thing for old newsreels covering just about every topic on Earth, you are about to be entertained from here until the cows come home, or however long it may take you to view 85K newsreels from British Pathé, dating back to the 1930’s.

It's funny that made the news. Completely common in American now... lol

The nice thing about back then..they didn't hesitate to ridicule those who should be as the term "PC" didn't exist.

In some ways things were better back then -- you could call him a fatass to his 4 chins and not be seen as some evil person by society. You could call a spade a spade and not have to dance around the minefields' today of retarded political correctness. These days the kid would get some reality show on MTV and paid a ton of money (maybe even paid in ice cream) to sit around and be fat.

Let's face it - there were shitty parents back then in the 30's too it seems.

It is interesting to see that the British were just as much into tabloid journalism 80 years ago as they are today.

I was just watching some of those yesterday.

I know, right? Nowadays if you berate 3-year-olds until they cry, people all get on your case like you're doing something wrong. It's ridiculous!

Except those years in the 30s' were pretty grim. The optimism of the roaring 20s' were gone, and them people need their dose of tabloid to take their minds off of the mundane and really glum state of affair both domestic and internationally.
