You wake up to find your house engulfed in flames. The first thing you do is run out of the building to safety, but then you throw caution to the wind to run back into the flames and smoke to rescue not the dog, not your wife and kids, but your beloved Xbox. :D

People do irrational things sometimes during emergency situations, but this strikes me as particularly ridiculous.

I grabbed my desktop and original xbox when our house was on fire however many years ago... :p

Stupid! That is what insurance and photographs of your house and possessions are for.

Yes he got his XBOX. Funny thing is he ran into the burning house unplugged all the cables while fire is all around him then carries it out lmfao. He would be a hero if it was a human. Speaking of which i wonder if he would react the same way if it was a human?

Xbox? Ya stupid. Pc? Not entirely stupid. I've known two people in my life whose houses burned to the ground. They lost everything. Both said everything was replaceable except for one thing only - pictures and home movies of your kids and family. They'd both give anything for those back.

Best solution: digitize everything, do frequent backups, and have some offsite storage. That said, I have a synology nas with everything on it - if I could make it to that white box with say second degree burns or worse (after the family and pets of course) - I'd make a go for it.

Id do the same thing. I dont have renters insurance so id be saving everything possible (human life first of course)

I would miss my PornStation 3 if my house burnt down. I wouldn't try to save it though.

Only thing i'd do is make sure my safe is locked up before i left, it's really the only thing i use it for i expect fire more than a burglary at this point.

well if it was an old style xbox 360 he could have just popped the hd off, still I wouldn't go into a burning building for a few saved games.

We always make fun that this thug wanna-be black guy at work always wears hot pink SNEAKERS to the office (why management hasn't said anything to him is beyond me, its clearly not dress code). Anyway, his apartment complex shut down and he didn't rescue any of his important paperwork or even his wallet that had his ID, credit cards, cash, etc but did manage to rescue his pink shoes.

Some people just take the retard cake when it comes to priorities.

Personally, I'd rescue my two cats, and then if I had time my desktop since it has my RAID array with all my crap on it. The paperwork and what not is in a fireproof safe anyway.

I'd have to try for my two favorite guitars, followed by my cat.

Good for him. He saved his console, and marginally reduced the insurance burden on the rest of us. People are so damn risk averse these days, it's ridiculous.

That's not gonna help you get back lost save data. Unless this dude pays for Xbox Live Gold and uses Cloud Saves, going back in was a smart plan.

I had my Nintendo DS stolen once. Yeah I eventually got another one, but there's no getting back all the save data I lost (aside from replaying through entire games again).

My backups of all my PC data are also stored in my house. If my house ever caught fire, I'm sure as hell going back in for
1.) my data backups
2.) my PC if I have time (cuz my PC is my life)
3.) my treasured and rare game consoles and games.

Those things have irreplaceable sentimental value. Not to mention video games are my life. If that shit burns up in a fire, there's nothing left for me. If they burn, I might as well stay in there and burn with them.

But I probably won't, cuz burning hurts, and I don't like pain. So I would watch from outside and cry like a bitch.

The responses in this thread are fucking mind blowing. You have to be kidding me. Get your loved ones if any and get the fuck out seriously!

Have many firefighters in my family and the stupid in here is just baffling.

I agree! Ridiculous!

As for me I'd run in and grab my Sig and my Springfield XD. That's like two grand worth of guns alone!

Hey, good for him, we don't know what keeps people going in life, be it his Xbox, or pink shoes hehe.

Yes if my house bursts into flames I am going to need a minute to grab my server. Gaming PC? I can download the Steam games again later... although I will be sadded by the loss of my 2 4K monitors and my i7 3 way 780ti SLI system, insurance will have to reimburse me... ;)
