I was just looking through our last [H]ot Deals thread (here) and I noticed that TigerDirect now accepts bitcoin payments. Nice! Hit this link for the announcement.

Couldn't find any info if they charge taxes on bitcoin payments.

Yes. Because they're not actually directly accepting BTC. They're proxying through an exchange.

I dig it! i got an email from tiger direct about 5 hours ago with this announcement. I ordered a gigabyte G.1 sniper board to test it out. very slick so far. And i dont have that guilt associated with spending real money on toys :)

Makes me sad I never mined because I thoughtit was an insane fad.
I could be building my dream PC for free!

That's a step in the right direction!

I might start taking a look at TD now.

no kidding. i remember hearing about it very early on, and thinking how stupid it was. but on the other hand, i thought maybe i should invest like $50 into it in case it ever caught on. that stupid $50 investment would be worth about $47M right now.(i think when i first heard of it, it was like 1000 coins/dollar or something like that)

I still have not quite a whole bitcoin left, which I am now afraid to use for fear of them skyrocketing AGAIN. A few years back I spent 7 bitcoins on a $30 amazon giftcard. Felt good because I bought an extra 5830 to mine with my 5850, mined, broke even, sold off the card and ended up with the gift card.

I'd sure like those 7 btc back now.....

However, that said, it's great to see it catching on to mainstream sites now.

Add me to the list of people who heard about it early but quit cos it seemed pointless. I think I even had a few coins but didn't care so lost my wallet -_-

I feel your pain (and then some) cashed out about 250 coins a while back to do a computer upgrade for $1000.... I could really kick myself for that now. But like any investment, at some point you are going to get out. No way too know what the future will bring. That and I wouldn't have had the stones to hold those past $30 / bitcoin. I can't even fool myself into thinking that. I'm a horrible trader, if I have direct access I am a lot more likely to fuck it up.

Everybody who remember Beanz thought it was stupid.

how much can you get per hour mining on a core 2 duo?

I have a dedicated server I could put to use, and should have put to use years ago

you wouldnt get a single fraction of a fraction of a coin on that.
i just looked it up, as i was curious how terrible it really would be....
assuming you had a Q9650, you would have a hashrate of about 19kh/s, you would make 0.0000 coins per 24hrs. if you wanted to solo mine, it would take roughly 12827 years before you mined your first block of coins.

How nice, they accept bitcoins now. I bet they still push that un-redeemable crap they claim as 'rebates' that they never honor.

I'm so sick of tiger directs scam where rebate codes don't work I have no desire to step foot in their stores anymore.

I did solo mining for a couple of months early on when it was still feasible to do so. I can't remember how much I mined nor my wallet login information.

nice to see BTC being accepted more places now.

I still remember trading lots of BTC for low amounts of $$ compared to where it is now. Thankfully I still have a few left over that I didn't touch.

umm,id be doing everything i could get to get into that wallet.
I suppose I should. I really can't remember how much I had. A little, a lot? I dunno. It was around the first year of bitcoin mining, and I was using a 5770.

I thought btc was the currency of drug-runners, child pornographers, and murders.

;)

Likely more than a few thousand dollars worth. Would definitely be worth the effort to find it. Even 1 bitcoin can be easily traded for a $800 gift card right now. (instantly)
