Prior to the start of CES this year, the nay sayers were predicting a flop of a convention and declining attendance for a trade show that has lost its relevance in today’s electronic world. What it turned out to be in reality was quite the opposite.

“One-third of the world’s population interacted with CES in some way this week, as we experienced the future.”

So with flat physical attendance, they are going to resort to reporting people on the internet that might have seen some CES news?

CES gets more boring every year.

Look at a couple of Best of CES lists from 2013, and then compare with 2014.

The lists are nearly interchangeable. CES barely has any real new products, it is just the wrong time of year.

I think the lack of flagship products can have more to do with companies ease in hosting their own dedicated events now ... the big shows become like car shows where they show off some demo items that may not have much practical use yet or have years of development ahead of them ... for the flagship or signature type products (major tablets, consoles, computers, etc) they can now host events and show and tells (like Apple has done) and not have to share the spotlight with another company and have a tightly controlled message ;)
