Phoronix has a benchmark battle featuring Valve's SteamOS vs. Ubuntu 13.10 posted today that is worth the click to go check out.

Complementing the SteamOS vs. Windows 8.1 performance benchmarks published earlier in the week, here are more NVIDIA OpenGL Linux benchmarks when comparing Valve's Debian-based SteamOS performance to Ubuntu 13.10.

Interesting but they're synthetic benchmarks. Any chance HardOCP is considering a SteamOS benchmarking session at some point?
 
Phoronix only runs synthetic benchmarks. Considering how significant driver writers can cheat in synthetics, such benchmarks are completely irrelevant. All of these OS comparisons are worthless and a waste of time. Linux has a wide variety of games now available, why aren't they testing them instead?

Even benchmarking a game like portal would be better than benchmarking "insert worthless ancient open source fps here."
