A new study has finally confirmed what we've all know for years, executives watching porn are the leading cause of malware and viruses. :D

Research from ThreatTrack Security revealed that 40 percent of security professionals found that a device used by a member of their company's senior leadership team had been infected by malware because of a visit to a pornographic website, and nearly 60 percent of the security professionals surveyed have cleaned malware from a device after an executive clicked on a malicious link or was duped by a phishing email.

But what will their idle hands do, when their access to porn is denied...besides jerking off in their big fancy office?

But really, why in the hell would anyone use a work device for this purpose? I don't do anything not work related on my work devices. Nada, zip, not a all.

I mean seriously, are there that many executives rubbing one out in the corporate office? Someone isn't working [H]ard enough.....

You aren't an executive. Company policy isn't applicable to them.

I dunno...if I was an administrative assistant for a corporate executive, I'd _much_ prefer he take care of his problems instead of being [H]ard when asking me about his upcoming appointments.

Depends on where you work. We have ZERO tolerance for this kind of thing because the risk for us is simply too great. Unless you're at the top, and I mean top of the food chain at the mega bank I work at, your ass is grass if this kind of shit happens with a work device. Of course they'll give you a nice send off and all, say you went to purse other opportunities but you're done there. I've known it to happen to a few pretty big wigs around the place.

The article does not really say what the [H] tag suggests or what even the article itself suggests.

All this article tells us is that 40% of IT workers have cleaned malware from an executive's device. This could be anywhere from one time with one executive to a thousand times with fifty executives.

Working in IT and being responsible for data recovery...some of the things I've seen on work laptops...

I consider myself a pervert of the highest order, but I would never even think to look at some of the crap I've found, much less save it to the goddamned hard drive in easily accessible places. AND THEN ASK FOR IT TO BE RECOVERED.

Executives really are psychopaths.

We have zero tolerance for it and have a procedure in place that prevents even the highest level of management from interfering with terminating an employee for it.

Had an exec deliver a laptop to me this week loaded with scamware antivirus, when asked what he was doing that led up to the moment, he said he clicked a link in his email purporting to be able to download his voicemail and transcribe it for him. He said he thought we deployed a new VM system overnight and just didnt bother to tell anyone about it.

LOL, you'd think if they had shit like that on their drive if something went wrong with the drive they'd throw it in a fire and be done with it instead of asking for it to be recovered. I guess the smart execs are the ones who aren't found out.

Unless I missed it, it doesn't say there was porn involved.

Of course it doesn't say so, because all astronauts and scientists are asexuals and there's saltpeter in the water on the ISS. Now, how much do you want to bet that nobody has ever taken porn on a USB stick to the ISS?

I wouldn't really care either way to be honest... stuck up there for 6 months I wouldn't blame them either. However, you're assuming something the article doesn't say, so how's about keeping things factual instead of just presuming something, eh?

In between writing themselves big bonuses by firing half the work force they have to do something to justify the IT department and have an excuse to watch Brazilian fart porn.

I have always assumed that orgies in space are possibly the coolest thing ever, EVER.

You remember that crazy girl several years ago that wore the space diapers and drove across America? What do you think causes someone to do that?

All aboard the space train!

In my experience, executives at the senior director level and up tend to be the untouchables no matter how stupid, delusional, or idiotic they are. They can do no wrong in the eyes of their VP/SVP/EVP unless they go to the President's desk and shit on it. Even then unless it was recorded on video they'll defend that action as well.

Problem is executives are often hired for outside reasons. They might be the child of one of the largest clients for example. Wife's cousin etc.
