We already know that Microsoft is providing its own headset included with the purchase of Xbox One, but for those of you waiting for high quality third party availability, Microsoft announced yesterday that you’ll have to wait until 2014.

Microsoft has informed its partners in the Xbox One console launch that the Xbox One Headset Adapter, being built by Microsoft and provided to Turtle Beach for inclusion with new gaming headsets, will not be available until early 2014.

If you've never seen the headset that comes with the xbone, it's really awesome.

It should be stated that audio will still work with any of your headsets cause it comes with a optical out. If you wanna talk to any of those idiots on xbox live then it wont work. Ive been on live for 9 years and I dont want to talk to any of them.

As someone with absolutely no plans to buy a Xbone...
This statement leaves me shocked and horrified! /sarcasm

The only thing I feel sorry for, is MS' Xbox PR Department. They keep getting handed turds of policy and hardware facets and have to try to turn them into something that doesnt bite them in the ass.

Let me guess this right... you feel sorry for a... PR Department? Isn't what you just said their exact job description? lol

Just thought this should be quoted. For any of you with some nice 7.1 headsets you'll still be able to use the optical audio just fine. Chat will be the only thing that requires an adapter.

The whole problem with Xbox is that they are so far into the red that they have to try an monetize every aspect of the console. The fact that you cant use any standard USB headset with an xbox1 is insane.

Yeah I've had a Live account since 2005, I played Halo 2 once online with other players on audio and never did that again.

Depressing and unnerving.

"Go hard or go home, N***ER!" <-- An actual thing that came out of the mouth of some mickey mouse voice halo kid as I watched an unevolved friend playing on his xbox not all that long ago.

What is depressing and unerving is that you have no friends to play with, hence you have no need for a microphone.

No I don't like gaming with 'real' friends. Much better to go to the pub or out for meals etc. with 'real' friends. You know proper real life socialising.:D

Never cared much for the 'virtual ones' folks pick up on-line for gaming. Quite depressing.

Didn't know people you meet while gaming is depressing. Also didn't know you couldn't have both real life friends to go out with and play games with, and have virtual ones to play games with.

Cardinal sin in my book.
