Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
RAM: 6 GB RAM
HDD: 50 GB HD space
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better
Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
DirectX: 11
Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet connection required for activation.

So 64 bit OS and 6 GB of ram. Not sure how the 550Ti and HD 5870 got paired together as they were two different generations if I remember right. I thought the 400 series did DX11? Maybe not. Wonder how much FMV is going into the game to use 50 GB of HD space. :)

The developers have confirmed the minimum requirements to play the game. Glad I didn't alter my post. :)

I plan on buying this game never played a Multiplayer COD game before....

50 gigs will make my SSD cry =) sure go fill it 1/5 of the way I wonder what the download is..... if it 50 gigs I'm buying a physical copy

I dont understand this massive jump in size. 50 GBs is gigantic compared to most games now. Seems to me like its poor optimization with compressing/decompressing textures and audio. Unless theyre adding support for 4k monitors that could explain massive texture size increases

Most textures today look like ass, I'm guessing the increase in file size is a direct result of higher res textures. Also a bit of the bump is the extra model detail.

Now with next gen consoles all being Blu-Ray, 50GB (the storage of a single dual-layer disc) is gonna probably be the standard size for games. In this case, probably for much higher res textures, and less-compressed 1080p FMV (since consoles have 1080p now too, they can't get away with shitty compressed 720p FMV.)

And I mean it's not unprecedented - Battlefield 3 (with all the DLC) is 34GB, Max Payne 3 is 30GB, etc.

These min specs seem like the sort of standard template for "next gen" games - DX11 only, 64-bit only, lots of HD space. My poor 2TB mechanical drive is pretty much full as it is. Gonna have to get me a 4TB.

Even if these specs were true, why would you need 50GB of hard drive space anyway? And I highly doubt you need a GTX 780 to max out this game, I'm sure a 5870 will max out this game with a decent framerate at 1080p.

Lol, I know right? Seriously. a 5870 would run this game no problem.

lol did anyone in their right minds believe cod will demand 6gb ram where bf4 only will require 4 and even support 32 bit os.. i think they will be even less then bf4 ones.

Gotta admit, the timing of this leak "mistake" featuring the "recommended 780" on R8's launch is at least suspicious.

Oye...

If COD ever actually rises to the quality that would yield these reqs the universe would collapse on itself.

Heh they probably introduced a memory leak so the could jack up the system req's and make themselves look innovative :p

I doubt it really needs 50GB of HD space. Black Ops 2 was under 8GB (before all the map packs). Unless they are including a legitimately-sized single-player campaign this time (doubt it) then I can't see that order of magnitude change over one iteration.

worm

Even with higher-res textures, a proper compression method should allow the size to be pretty small. Remember S3's magical compression method and super high-def billionK resolution textures? Not really a great comparison, but come on!

If that's the case it could just be a lazy, half-assed console port from the XBone & PS4. "We used all the ram and half the cores in the consoles because we're lazy, so you don't need much CPU but you need as much ram as an XBone. Oh, and we wrote this to work on the XBone and it'll look the same on both consoles because we're lazy." Hopefully they'll make something good though. I can always hope, right?

50 gigs!???

What the hell is taking up so much space?

I'll be honest I was kind of interested but no way I am having it take up that much on my SSD.

Well since the PC version is nothing but a console port I would imagine it would have to do with the Xbox One and PS4 versions both having Blu Ray drives. Its probably something like 35+ GB's in reality but perhaps they have DLC that is sitting with the major content that won't be released until you "unlock" it.

If they give Xbox One and PS4 users only access to better textures for instance by porting the 360/PS3 version , PC gamers would throw a massive fit.

I'm pretty sure they just put 50GB because it was a nice round number, not because the game is going to take up that much space.

People take minimum specs too seriously. People have always been able to play games with weaker systems than stated in the minimum specs. Minimum specs are just what the company is saying they are willing to support.

People aren't concerned about it requiring 50gigs. they are just blown away that any one could either put a game together that shittily, or delude themselves into thinking cod could ever require 50 f*cking gigs.

I remember reading an interview somewhere that the PC version would have higher resolution textures than even the X1/PS4 versions. This could allude to that but still 50GB is insane.

I took a week of vacation for this game I was going to take it at PS4 launch but I figure I wouldn't want any of the games at launch =) 5th-14th November I had to work during the Black Opps launch I seen all of the people in the store.

As a walmart employee Call of Duty games have the biggest crowd draws at Night it's always been that way.

The worse showing for people showing up for a major title was me and another guy for
Doom 3 =) back in 2005-06

LoL -- a game who's core engine is 15 years old.... how in the holy balls could they think it requires that much horsepower.

My bet is that they just started dumping random files into the mix to fluff up the requirements. Even if you give them a normal allowance for high res textures -- it still sounds like there is 20GB worth of scrambled porn in there.

Legitimate guess: 80% of that is pre rendered 1080P video or something, since the engine itself can't generate anything that pretty on it's own.

Every time I've played the latest CoD games (on the free weekend) I uninstall it after about 10 minutes, because even on the highest settings it looks like ass when run at max settings. BF3 and Crysis have spoiled me.

I honestly wonder when they will realize they can't drag this tired engine on too much longer,

I'm loving that games are starting to be 64-bit only...it's about time...seems like the next-gen consoles have now ushered in the multi-core generation and now 64-bit is becoming standard as well

the 50GB requirement is double that of RAGE which required 25GB

So don't install it to your SSD, problem solved.

People complaining about hard drive space, please fuck off. You can buy 2-3TB drives for <$150, I was buying 1TB drives for $70 in 2008. You don't need to install every single game you own to your SSD.

I really want to start seeing more high resolution textures, assets, and audio, and that all takes up HDD space. Bring it on.

I guess reading a single page of posts is too much to ask for these days, since it was mentioned these specs aren't correct.

And I'm not sure what you were expecting, CoD hasn't been about graphics since CoD 4. The hit detection is better at a 200 ping in CoD than at a 40 ping in battlefield, plus almost anyone can run it at 60 FPS with many running it at over that. Again, I know it's a difficult concept to grasp.

so what's the early buzz on CoD: Ghosts?...I havn't picked up the last 2 CoD games as I got bored of the franchise...is Ghosts the one to get me back into MP?...I hear it has dedicated servers so that's a good sign

black ops 2 already had dedicated servers

Yeah but not entirely. They had servers, but that only replaced the "host" in the matchmaking, so it tried to find a server closest to all the players. That is fine for 90% of the time, since it does actually make it easier to play with a party since you will always be on the same team, but I would like another option for straight up dedicated servers. Makes it easier for matches or just having fun. Kind of like MW3 did, dedicated servers that were unranked.

I bought a 840 EVO for this game =) cause my 250 SSD is pretty damn full....
so I picked up another 250

that's because you were a little late considering the game came out in the summer of 2004. :D

I hope games dont get too much bigger. I don't even have 1/4 of my games installed and I have to delete stuff every week to make room on my 1TB drive. I think getting a 2TB drive is not going to be enough for very long.

I'm more concerned about downloading 50 gigs than installing it. AT&T is still in the dark ages in my area with a max connection speed of 6 Mbps.

yeah I have the Uverse and even it only goes to 24 for max option. we have the 12 here as they charge 100 bucks for a technician to come to your house if you get the 18 or 24. they say its required to verify your lines can handle that speed. lol its a rip off cause this is only a 6 year old neighborhood and it has all the top of line cables. I had 30 meg Charter before moving here and sure it was faster but it was so unreliable and we had dozens of technician service calls a year. even their tv service would tile and pixelate all the time. with Uverse not once have I had to have a technician come in the 18 months I have lived here.

anyway you will have to do like I do for big games and just dl while you sleep. lol

I haven't had many issues with Charter so far, it seems to be a bit flaky when streaming sometimes(friday/saturday nights are pretty awful), but for gaming and downloading it's been pretty consistent. That said, their TV interface is such a piece of shit it isn't even funny anymore, same with Comcast here in the Bay area. Why is it so difficult for these cable companies to make a decent UI?

Why people keep buying these rehashes year after year is utterly mind blowing. It's incomprehensible.
