Wow, security sure is lax in Germany. Could you imagine the Pirate Party trying pulling that stunt over here?

With the German elections less than a week away, the Pirate Party has pulled off a quite extraordinary stunt. At a campaign rally by Chancellor Angela Merkel, a Pirate flew an unmanned camera-equipped drone just feet away from the somewhat amused German leader, before crash landing it just in front of her less than happy defense minister.

You'd be shipped off to Gitmo for pulling that stunt on a US President.
 
You mean Germany hasn't gone full-on Police State with 70 different Federal task forces armed to the teeth and municipal and county police armed with military hardware like the US?
 
If our Glorious Leaders™ (may they live forever) were actually decent and cool-headed enough to smile about a 'stunt' like this, no one would think to use such a device to cause them harm.
 
Oh they certainly did a heck of a good job maintaining their composure but don't be fooled. Someone is probably loosing their job over this, jamming hardware is being ordered , security policies being re-written, and a young man might be getting his ass kicked pretty bad right about now. Ever seen the Polizie in action?
 
Only reason it crashed was because

Seconds later with its Pirate Party operator apparently having been approached by the police, the drone crash-landed into the stage and was taken away by an official.
