Apple has just received a patent for 3D gesture control for maneuvering 3D objects above the screen on iPads and other similar devices.

Other uses include using 3D gestures to sculpt with virtual clay-like materials, and the ability to use gestures to change things like object shadows, brightness textures and more.

This should definitely not be pattentable. Instead of swipe to unlock they pattented swipe to draw, all they did was add the z-axis. These types of conceptual and software patents need to be invalidated ASAP.

Not sure on this, but doesn't the Leap do this? What about Kinect (for Xbox or PC)?

This is a stupid thing to patent. Apple will now sue everybody that uses gesture control.

We're all so screwed if Apple ever figures out a way to get breathing in and out to do something on their Iphone :(.

methinks samsung has something to tell you apple something the gs4 does

Um yea, did Leap Motion release something along these lines a few weeks ago?
