If you haven’t read the fine print in AT&T’s updated privacy policy, get out the magnifying glass and give it a scan. You will see that AT&T is beginning to sell your data usage information ‘anonymously’ to third party marketers.

Here's the kind of information AT&T will be selling: your location based on WiFi networks you connect to, Web browsing data, and apps you use.

That's great! Does these third party marketers include various security agencies (NSA, FBI, etc), or relate to them by proxy ?

Those guys don't ask for permission. They just span the ISP's traffic to an undisclosed location.
In other words, they just steal all the traffic and already have much more data than marketing junk.

Here you go:

In 2007, a former AT&T technician named Mark Klein described a special room — Room 641A — in an office tower at 611 Folsom St. in San Francisco. Its sole purpose: vacuuming up phone calls, emails and web searches for the NSA.

“I flipped out,” said Klein when he discovered what was going on. “They’re copying the whole Internet. There’s no selection going on here. Maybe they select out later, but at the point of handoff to the government, they get everything.”

That would be a great way to offset taxation. They have a treasure trove of data to sell to marketers.

Of course if this were to happen, they will lie to the American people and pretend it doesn't happen, so they can continue the status quo of taxing us in all aspects of our lives. The government doesn't give shit about the American people and now corporations are starting to act in the same fashion and get away with it.

Christ what else is new..... almost done with ATT and going to switch to pre pay.

It's really not a big deal. People are just getting what they deserve for owning cellular devices anyhow.

If you own a phone, you're asking for it. Complaining about it just makes you look dumb.

It won't offset anything. I'm sure they are not going to lower my way too high bill to offset that extra money they get from anyone and everyone they sell this info to. They are just shoving this money into their own pockets.

Everyone who owns AT should call them and let them know that they do not want their information shared to 3rd parties.
