The FreeBSD Engineering Team has announced FreeBSD 8.4 has been released for immediate download. The new version contains improvements and new features over version 8.3, updated Gnome and KDE, new ZFS file system and supported LSI storage controllers.
FreeBSD 8.4 can be installed from bootable ISO images or over the network. Some architectures (currently amd64 and i386) also support installing from a USB memory stick.
