Adding Haptic Technology To Everything On TV

lol combine this with oculus rift and the porn industry will be set till the holodeck is invented lol...

it is neat... when you see your virtual hand on the screen and feel the pressure for real as you touch things... it's kinda eerie... I'd love to try a 5 finger setup, or picking stuff up and feeling the weight, etc...

I wrote up a similar idea (just bigger scale) at http://www.joyunbound.com/2009/07/july-31st-2009/ 4 years ago.

I just got a brilliant idea that I do not think has been done before. But it’s a large gyroscopic-like device that a person could strap themselves into and be suspended at its center. The straps on the device would connect to all major/necessary joints of the person, and the person would wear a helmet of some sort that has built-in headphones, a built-in LCD screen, and (if necessary) something to control airflow to the face for air. But anyway, the joint straps would be connected to one of the rings of the gyroscope with mechanical arms, and it is what would mostly suspend you. This device would have to have a strong motor to rotate, swivel, and move the rings, and there would have to be motor bits to control locking and some movement of the joint strap arms. The joint straps would have sensors that would feed to a computer the physical movements of your body. A skeleton could be mapped out, and you could control that skeleton with your body movements.

For simulation of ground, walls, etcetera, the arms could “force” you from going through invisible planes through mechanical locks and motors. It would be a realistic simulation. For falling, a computer game could be set so that if you were falling that the gyroscope device would move you in such a way by “force” that you would feel like you are falling.
With something like this would be awesome combination with oculus rift + four kinect cameras (triangular prism arrangement, 4 for maximum accuracy and precision).
