Intel's new CEO says that, although the company was late to the mobile game, it has a plan in place to help Intel make up for lost time.

Intel Corp's new CEO Brian Krzanich said on Thursday that under his leadership the top chipmaker will be more responsive to customers in an intensified focus on the fast-growing smartphone and tablet market where it lags its rivals.

It's interesting to witness an industry giants inflexibility. Its a known issue that these behemoth corporations drown in their own bureaucracy, leaving them slow to adapt to sharp market shifts.

The saltwell architecture is easily 12 to 24 months late (as in, there should have been a real successor to the original atoms, not just a die shrunk revision by now). Lucky for Intel they weren't left that far behind the curve, they have massive capital to invest, and they still have been inovating in the desktop space this whole time. I expect great mobile solutions from them in the next few years.

Still, they are a well oiled machine. To bet against them is a longshot.

They only drown in the bureaucracy if they hire the wrong type of leaders.
