Wait what?

Can someone explain what this is and how to get in on the deals?

Don't have a family member that works retail anymore.
Need a 3930K for a workstation build. :(

hmm....my friend works at radioshack ... i should see if i can get him to hook me up ..

This is the only time I've ever been sad about not working retail.... DO want that 3770 :(

What type of "retail" employee must the family member be in? Computer store, big box electronics, etc. or any type of retail?

I work for one of those companies, but not as a sales person.

I can't find the rules - is it based on the company you work for or do you specifically have to be in sales?

Great deal, but not worth losing your job over.

man I always get pissed with retail edge comes around. Never had the chance to buy one at such a great price.

I thought about this for a moment, but at the rate most Sales Associates get paid, they could use the discount and thensome. I wouldn't trade my job for theirs unless I needed it, and hats off to America's backbone for helping spoiled consumers everyday.

You don't have to be in sales, but I think you have to work in the retail store.

GD, why the hell is Target not on that list? I have multiple family members and friends who work there...

Why can't they have something for students for all you need is a working student email address? :(

New for this year is the ability of call center personel to participate. Previously only retail employees could but they have consolidated all of their training programs into retailedge now.

Holy crap, i remember the retail edge deals back when i worked at best buy being slight discounts but this makes me want to go somewhere and get hired pat time to get these deals.

I think it's a sign. My girlfriend's sister just got a job at Walmart.

So is that AT&T as a whole or just their mobility/retail stores? I just started as a technician and would love to get in on this

I miss the days of being able to cash in on these deals. Used to work at Milwaukee PC during high school.

Still trying to get a job at RAKUTEN.COM ... this would be a great perk that I didn't even know of :D

I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather have my job and be able to afford retail on these chips than get paid the average retail salesperson salary.
Unless said salesperson is a kid living at home with the parentals with no bills, they need this discount more than most of us.

Don't pity retail workers, even if this deal was for free. They can have it.

Its not about the job, and how much you get paid. So per say you make this much, and they need the deals. Anybody would want to get in on these, given these prices. Also, just because you work their, doesnt mean you would qualify to purchese these items anyway. You would have to pass some learning courses, and gain points just to qualify to any level other then roadie. You have producer status, rockstar, and rock legends. You also can use points to buy items in a store. You are also qualified to win ultrabooks, and tablets each month with each new promotion. Once you take learning courses, and know your way around the site, its awesome to be part of, regardless of what you make.

As someone who just started working at Wal-Mart, this is pretty sweet. I'm assuming this deal won't apply to Haswell right? I was planning on upgrading to Haswell when it came out, so now I have to figure out whether to get cheap 3770k, cheap 3930k or regular price 4670k. Decisions decisions...

The Winter Deal usually has the new stuff, awesome stuff. The summer rolls around and usually has the rehashed Winter Deal stuff. Awesome deals regardless. Hopefully the next winter deal will feature an Ivy Bridge-E chip.

If you started at walmart. Go apply at retail edge site. Hopefully you already got your paycheck. Scan you paycheck, or go online if you have paycheck their. Edit out your payrate, and personal information. All they need is just employer, and check date. They would not need any other personal information. It would take a couple of days to verify employment. Once done, stay up a couple of late nights and finish some courses. It will tell you how many points need to move up from roadie. Once you are producer status, you can participate on the deal. They only last about a month, and they choose the items to have on sale. Last summer it was just the 3930k, last winter was the 3770k, this time its both, but you can only get in on 1 item. I would go 3770k given the price range, and actually performance per dollar would skyrocket, compared to the 7 percent gain to haswell 4770k.

My wife's stepdad works at Wal-Mart. I think I'm gonna go have a talk to him, lol

Retail Edge is the only thing I miss from working at Worst Buy. The ONLY thing.

Lesigh, it's about time to rebuild the desktop and finally retire the last Retail Edge Proc I ever purchased (QX6850!~), but it's not really in the budget yet, and these prices make me sad :(

What decision is there? 3770 at $60 or 3930 at $150 vs haswell at retail is a definite no brainer. Buy what you want now, use it and enjoy it and when haswell shows up on retail edge sell the 3770 or 3930 for a very healthy profit and get that. Rinse and repeat.

I miss it too but back when i worked at BB the discount was pretty nice, now its just gone to shit.

I work for Apple Corporate (not in the store) and was able to use my apple email to get verified. This is a sweet deal!

Thank you OP!

there is a thread in the discussion section already.

for everyone looking at the cheap price, remember to also factor in the cost of tax and shipping for your stuff.

Also, you cannot get to rock legend right away - it takes a year of bs to get there.

so in the end if you get to rockstar status, it's 75 + 11.50 shipping + tax = ~ 95 total for the 3770k and 170 + 11.50 shipping + tax = $~195 for the 3930k.
